David Rand

Executive Director

davidrand_black_whiteDavid Rand is the Executive Director of the Tenzin Gyatso Institute, and has served on the Board of Directors since 2003. He comes to the position with expertise and experience across a broad range of sectors, both in business and non-profits, including founding a pioneering food company that was sold to a publicly traded company.

He developed an innovative project for low-income entrepreneurs for the Aspen Institute, which was recently lauded by Ben Bernanke as an innovative solution to helping very small business owners.

He has completed a two-year Buddhist personal retreat in France, under the guidance of Sogyal Rinpoche. David first met His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1979, on the occasion of the Dalai Lama's first visit to America.

 

Christine Pollei

Director of Operations

Christine brings an eclectic business background to her role at the Tenzin Gyatso Institute. She owned and operated an eyewear design company which had product lines at high-end retailers throughout the Unites States such as; Neiman Marcus and Bloomindales before going on to enjoy a multi-faceted career in theatre, television and film production in Los Angeles, California. She has been at the Institute since 2006 and is part of the executive management team.


Jonathan Pollei

Center Manager

Jonathan enjoyed a career as a professional actor having had the opportunity to portray roles on the London stage, popular American television shows and major motion pictures. Since joining the team at the Tenzin Gyatso Institute in 2006 he has supervised the Institute's website from design to launch, continues to manage all subcontractors and volunteers, effectively manages all of the daily site operations, among other things. He is currently spearheading the creation of a public nature trail on the Institute's land in Berne, NY.

 

Michael Wong

Practice Leader

Michael graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles. He later received a Master's in Social Welfare (M.S.W.) from UCLA. Prior to coming to the Tenzin Gyatso Institute, he worked as a Children's Social Worker in Los Angeles, California.
